Dan's mum has kindly sold us her 1987 Ford Meteor wagon for $700. One slight issue is that she lives in Adelaide and the car has to be driven back to Melbourne, then to Sydney and then we start the rally. Fingers crossed that we make it.

Where the shitbox ended up
What is the Shitbox Rally?
In March 2010, Ben Timmis and Dan Murphy are taking part in a charity car rally from Sydney to Alice Springs. The event is called The Shitbox Rally and it's raising money for the Cancer Council to help fund research into the causes of cancer and provide support for cancer sufferers and their friends and family. The rally involves Ben and Dan buying a car for less than $1,000 and then driving it 3,500kms across Australia, from Sydney to Alice Springs, stopping off in towns along the way raising money and awareness for the cancer Council.
This is the events first year and the organisers are hoping to attract 15 teams to take part in the rally, so if you like the sound of raising money for cancer research, then get a team together and join in. If that's not do-able, then any contribution you can make will help Ben and Dan get their team The Road Warriors into the event and raise more money for a great cause.
